The Benefits and Uses of High Definition Laser Scanning

SightLine applies the use of 3-dimensional laser scanning technology for a variety of documentation purposes. We provide clear and accurate records of conditions for both new and pre-existing structures.

Laser Scanning and Building RenovationOffice Space Renovation - 3-D CAD Model Documentation

In working with a recent client, SightLine scanned this office space that was undergoing renovation. The client was provided with a 3-D CAD model that documented the locations of the various elements to assist them with their redesign.
SightLine scanned the building in one day and created the 3-D model in one week. The 3-D model shows the walls, supporting columns, beams, purlins, roof drains, steam lines, electrical conduits and remaining HVAC equipment. From this base model the client was able to begin their redesigning process.
Typically a firm would have a team of people go to the structure and document it taking hand measurements and field notes. Often there are unintentional omissions in the data collected only to be discovered when the final documents are being created. Omissions can only be rectified by revisiting the site. In turn, this incurs additional costs and is time lost to everyone. Implementing laser-scanning technology can eliminate this scenario. High Definition Laser Scanning captures all visible data and acquiring missing information is as simple as opening the scan and retrieving it.
